Montarna Pitt is a maven of all things fashion, PR and lifestyle. From The Audience Agency, her boutique Sydney-based communications firm, to setting a deliciously eclectic table, we're taking lots of cues!
We visited Montarna's home to chat about her journey to career success and motherhood. Along the way we got the scoop on what inspires her style, date nights at home, how to mix and match for a casual table setting, and more.Have you always been interested in interiors and home decor? Who do you look to for inspiration?
Interiors come a close second to fashion for me – in fact, I actually enrolled and attended my first week at university as an interior architect student (before switching to communications) so it’s always been a passion of mine. I source so much of my interior inspiration from Instagram and Pinterest. A few of my favorites are Phoebe Nicol (@phoebenicol.interiors), Tamsin Johnson (@tamsinjohnson), and AP Design House (@apdesignhouse).
What's your approach to entertaining friends and family at home? How do you keep things festive?
I LOVE entertaining! Any excuse for a fabulous table setting, fresh flowers, good food, a tune and friends over – I’m in. I like to play around with different flowers to change the mood of my table settings. For a casual gathering I’ll mis-match placemats, napkins and table décor for an eclectic feel, and when it’s something more formal I keep it simple and more uniform. The cherry on top is always a toe tapping playlist!
Any favorite tabletop pieces in your cupboards currently?
1. Our crystal wine glasses were a special wedding gift.
2. These Mud Australia plates I bought when we moved into our first house together - they’ve seen many a dinner party.
3. The limited edition Luke Edward Hall bowls and espresso cups were both gifts from very close friends who know me too well.
With a growing business and a little one at home (adorable Parker), how do you set the tone at home after a long week?
It’s really important to Nick and I to have regular date nights – life can be so busy, and an evening together gives us the chance to connect and enjoy quality time just the two of us. Since having Parker it’s been hard to get out for dinner and drinks together so we’ve been enjoying our date nights at home. Nick is the chef in our relationship so I prepare and set the table and he always brings the culinary goods and wine (of course!). Even the simple act of prepping dinner in the kitchen together with music on and a glass of red helps us unwind after the working week.
Can you share with us a few of your proudest, most memorable moments since launching The Audience Agency in 2014?
Moving from my parents loungeroom – where I first launched The Audience Agency with one employee – to our first professional office within the first year of business. That felt like a big moment.
Forging a partnership between Tinder and Mardi Gras Sydney in 2018 where we created the ‘All Types, All Swipes’ parade float and launched Tinder profile settings for people of all gender identities. Seeing this campaign come to life in that landmark year for same-sex equality [in Australia] was an incredible career highlight.

How has your career at The Audience Agency impacted your personal style?
Working in PR has had a huge effect on my personal style. Over the years I’ve had the privilege of working with amazingly talented creatives who have influenced my wardrobe – I love supporting up and coming brands, as well as turning to my designer favourites. Through my work and personal life I’ve also been fortunate to travel the world and there’s nothing like a new city or country to spark some style inspiration.
